Southeast Michigan — Macomb County · Town edition

Romeo

Orchard-country charm, Victorian streets, and a downtown that takes its holidays personally.

Why winter

Romeo's historic buildings and walkable Main Street lend themselves to a pleasantly old-fashioned winter visit. Around the village, orchard country and Stony Creek Metropark add a rural, outdoorsy counterpoint to coffee, restaurants, and holiday traditions.

Overheard in Romeo
Romeo is closely associated with orchards and the surrounding agricultural landscape.

Michigan winter
A winter tall tale · as told in Romeo

The Village That Won't Let Go of Its Peaches

Romeo grew up among southeastern Michigan's orchards and farms. Its Peach Festival became an established Labor Day celebration, bringing the surrounding agricultural heritage into the village streets. Even in winter, the orchards remain part of the landscape and the town's identity. The peaches have long since disappeared from the trees, but Romeo keeps the reputation year-round.

Tall tales grow in the telling. Take this one with road salt.
